How to Apply for Funding

Thank you for your interest in the Komen Affiliate grants program.  To receive information about the Komen Affiliate grant program, including announcements, Request for Applications, information and networking event information please call our office at 208-384-0013. To be eligible to apply for a Komen Community-Based Grant, your organization must be:

  • Any United States non-profit, federally tax exempt organization may apply for a grant from the Affiliate, assuming that the applicant meets all other requirements as stated in these guidelines. Eligible organizations include nonprofit organizations, nonprofit hospitals and hospital systems, governmental entities, Indian tribes, and non-profit educational institutions. Organizations planning to use a fiscal sponsor must contact the Affiliate prior to submitting a grant application.
  • Located in the specified Affiliate service areas of; support projects in our 19 counties in Southwest Idaho including, Idaho, Adams, Washington, Valley, Payette, Gem, Boise, Canyon, Ada, Elmore, Owyhee, Camas, Blaine, Gooding, Lincoln, Minidoka, Twin Falls, Jerome and Cassia.

Community Needs and Funding Priorities

Priority 1: EARLY DETECTION AND EDUCATION-(SCREENING & EDUCATION/OUTREACH) Delivery of free/reduced screening and diagnostic mammography services to underinsured, uninsured, and low income populations using Medicare rates.  

Priority 2: PATIENT ACCESS PROGRAMS AND MOBILE MAMMOGRAPHY-(RURAL SCREENING) Focus on programs that reduce the gaps and barriers to accessing breast health care.

Priority 3: COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND PATIENT ASSISTANCE-(TREATMENT AND PATIENT SUPPORT) programs that reduce disparities in breast cancer outcomes among medically underserved patients.

    • Programs must include community outreach and/or support that aid breast cancer patients to access and understanding of the medical system, as well as allocate financial resources for low-income patients for services such as: rent/mortgage, transportation, utilities, food, medical supplies (lymphedema sleeves, mastectomy camisoles, and/or childcare).

Grant applications must address one of the priorities above and fall into one of the following funding areas. The application instructions for each of these types of grants are outlined int he applicable RFA, which can be downloaded for each funding category below. Applicants wishing to apply for funds in more than one of these categories must submit a separate application for each funding category request.

  • Grants Applications Due: must be postmarked by January 13, 2012 or delivered by 4pm MST
  • March 2012: Award Notification
  • Grant Cycle: April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013
